2026 · District of Highlands Council

Rob Justice

ACCOUNTABLE · PRACTICAL · INDEPENDENT

No hidden agenda, only the wisdom of 45 years residing in the Highlands, along with a good measure of common sense.

45 years in the Highlands

Putting experience to work for the community.

“I am retired and ready to put my time and experience to work for the community.”

Concern about recent property tax increases — 21.2% over the past three years — along with future municipal financial needs and expenditures, are some of my reasons for asking for your vote.

I raised my family here and now have grandchildren living in the Highlands. I appreciate the value of growing up connected to nature in this special place and want the same opportunity for future generations.

I have been keeping honey bees since the 1990s and am the owner of a successful farm business.

I am community-minded, fair and hard-working. I will bring a practical approach to local issues and put the community first.

I strive to be an independent, conscientious decision-maker. I will listen carefully, study the facts and be accountable for each vote. I possess no hidden agenda, only the wisdom 45 years of residing in the Highlands has taught me, along with a good measure of common sense.

My approach

Listen. Study. Ask. Be accountable for each vote.

Consider each issue on its merits. Listen to residents. Ask questions. Study the facts. Be accountable for each vote.

Community First

Independent local leadership

“After 45 years in the Highlands, I know what makes this community we call home special. I will listen, ask questions, study the facts and make practical decisions with the future of the Highlands in mind.”

Accountable

Residents should know where I stand and why.

Listen to residents · Explain my votes · Respect taxpayers' dollars

Practical

Good decisions need to work in the real world.

Responsible budgets · Reliable services · Long-term planning

Independent

Every issue deserves to be considered on its own merits.

Ask questions · Study the facts · Make decisions without a hidden agenda

My priorities

Keeping the Highlands
rural, resilient and responsible.

Protect Our Quiet Rural Way of Life

Make sustainable, balanced decisions that keep Highlands quiet, rural and independent while respecting our community values, water, roads, habitat and neighbours.

Careful Land-Use Decisions

Review proposals carefully and consider their long-term impact on the community, now and for future generations.

Spend Carefully

Support responsible budgets, realistic costing and thorough long-term financial planning.

Build Resilience

Support and enhance community knowledge and response, including emergency preparedness, invasive species awareness and food security, etc.

Strengthen Our Tax Base

Reduce pressure on rising residential taxes by encouraging appropriate business investment within the servicing boundary while preserving Highlands rural ambiance, residential neighbourhoods and valued parklands.

Deliver Practical, Effective Municipal Services

Focus municipal resources on practical, affordable and effective services that residents rely on.

Independent Decisions

Consider each issue on its merits, listen to residents, ask hard questions, study the facts and be accountable for each vote.
